Is It Aesthetically Pleasing?

Probably one of the biggest buzz words on the internet since 2020, aesthetic, is often used to describe the overall look and feel of a place or location.

Over the years, especially with the rise and growth of social media, it has become more and more important for businesses to put out good looking content to attract customers. You hear things like “the Instagram feed needs to be aesthetically pleasing” meaning that the content must be carefully curated to fit a certain style that will look good.

You’ve probably seen how some people will hold up their phones to take a couple of pictures of a restaurant before they’ve ordered their food, then take a couple more flat lays once the food has arrived. This type of picture will depict a top view shot of the table layout with plates, glassware, cutlery, napkins, and items like candles and flowers to add to the visual appeal of the image.

This has been a big trend amongst fine dining restaurants, others going as far as redesigning their interior to make it “instagramable”. Anything from different colored plates with unique shapes and sizes, to antique style glasses and cutlery, the chairs, light fixtures, and wall artwork can all contribute to this effect.
